Kabo Gabanakgosi is a Principal Geotechnical Engineer at Debswana Diamond Company, with expertise spanning open-pit and underground geotechnical engineering, slope stability management, design and optimisation, and mineral residue deposits. Over his career, he has supported all major Debswana operations( Jwaneng, Orapa, Letlhakane and Damtshaa Mines),providing technical leadership across geotechnical design, risk management, and operational assurance.
He has played a central role in shaping the company’s geotechnical framework, strengthening slope and underground mine stability management, enhancing geotechnical project oversight, and driving mine design optimisation. Kabo has led several enterprise-critical initiatives, including slope optimisation programmes, geotechnical assurance reviews, and the integration of risk-based, dynamic mine design principles across the business.
His professional contributions extend to the governance of mineral residue facilities, where he has supported the alignment of internal practices with global standards and emerging regulatory expectations. He is actively engaged in advancing geotechnical governance, technical assurance, and cross-disciplinary integration within large-scale mining environments.
