Safety is our nature
Geobrugg develops and manufactures protection systems made of high-tensile steel wire. These systems protect against natural hazards such as rockfall, landslides, debris flow and avalanches.
More than 70 years of experience and close collaboration with research institutes and universities make Geobrugg a pioneer and leading expert in these fields.
About
Safety is our nature
Our fields of application
Our rockfall protection barriers stop impacts with energies up to 10,000 kJ – this is a world record.
Netting anchored in the ground with soil nails and spike plates secures the slope. The mesh is almost invisible and favors revegetation.
Our solutions provide particularly efficient and sustainable protection against these natural hazards.
Our flexible protection system reliably holds back snow masses. In the snow-free period, this solution also provides effective rockfall protection.
Geobrugg meshes and mechanical installation aids are a safety and efficiency factor in mining as well as in tunnels worldwide: people, machines and infrastructure are protected even in critical zones. This reduces work interruptions.
Monitoring and alarm systems: Based on digital processes, they increase safety, enable predictive maintenance, and thus reduce costs.
Our wide range of FIA-homologated and accepted protection solutions protect spectators and drivers at world renowned racetracks. Our road fences are also suitable as a temporary solution in road construction and rockfall protection.
In the area of impact protection, our systems stop flying / falling debris or accelerated objects of all kinds. Other solutions protect against break-out or break-in.

Leading in the development and production of protection systems
Safety is our nature – true to this guiding principle, we have been developing and manufacturing protection solutions since 1951.
High-strength steel wire nets and matching services monitor and protect against natural hazards such as rockfall, landslides, debris flows, avalanches or coastal erosion. They ensure safety in mining and tunneling as well as on motor sports tracks, in industry and in test facilities. With experience, a spirit of research, continuous internal training and close cooperation with research institutes, we drive innovation and industry standards.
More than 500 specialists work for Geobrugg worldwide. Production facilities on all continents as well as a presence in over 50 countries stand for proximity to the customer and rapid project implementation – from requirements analysis to acceptance. Geobrugg, headquartered in Romanshorn, Switzerland, is an independent company within the BRUGG Group.

Geobrugg’s Insights
Geotechnical Engineers Don’t Just Stabilise Slopes — They Carry Responsibility
Every slope in an open pit mine holds more than rock. It carries people, decisions, livelihoods—and the weight of getting it right.
As local mines push deeper into the earth, engineers are no longer just managing ground conditions; they are interpreting a complex, living system. The tools we choose, and how precisely we apply them, define whether risk is contained or allowed to grow unseen.
Explore tried-and-tested protection systems that secure against Rockfall, landslides and slope instability giving you trusted accountability beyond slope engineering.

Sustainability Is No Longer Simple
– Its a system of decisions. Today’s slope protection landscape is no longer defined by a single solution—it is shaped by a complex ecosystem of applications, environments, and performance expectations. From mining to infrastructure, the challenge is not just protection, but choosing the right solution, backed by the right data.
Engineers must understand what drives sustainability in mining today—balancing environmental impact, performance, and governance. As complexity grows, data-driven tools become essential to optimise and manage protection strategies effectivel
See how our lighter, high-strength systems, that reduce resource consumption, deliver transparent reporting, allowing you to focus on measurable, long-term outcomes.
Tested Protection Systems in the World’s Toughest Slopes
From steep open pit walls to critical transport corridors, these projects demonstrate how high-tensile mesh systems, dynamic rockfall barriers, and hybrid protection solutions are applied to control instability at scale. Whether stabilising fractured rock masses or intercepting high-energy rockfall events, the focus remains on precision design, tested performance, and efficient installation.
What stands out across these projects is consistency—solutions that are lightweight, adaptable, and rigorously tested, capable of absorbing extreme impact energies while maintaining long-term durability.
